
The ARC Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS)
Established on 1 January 2008, the Australian Research
Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS) is a major research partnership between
The Australian National University,
Griffith University,
The University of Queensland and
Charles Sturt University. The Centre also
brings together a range of industry partners
that are committed to innovation and evidence-based research in policing and security.
The Centre's goal is to gain a better understanding of the origins, motivations and dynamics of crime and security threats.
Its objectives are to create significant transformations in crime, crime prevention and security policies, and to bring
about evidence-based reform in the practices of policing and security to enhance Australia's social, economic and
cultural wellbeing.

Virtual Forum Against Cybercrime is launched by the KIC

The Korean Institute of
Criminology (KIC) has launched its Virtual Forum Against Cybercrime – an online forum aimed at providing, on an international
basis, information about cybercrime. The forum is supported by the KIC under the auspices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The Virtual Forum Against Cybercrime is a web-based portal that provides an online training program for law enforcement personnel
from Asian countries, and a research network with practical information on cybercrime for researchers and the general public.

“The ‘war on drugs’ is a war on people” – Dr Norm Stamper

Dr Norm Stamper is a former Chief of the
Seattle Police Department and one of the leading lights of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), a drug-policy-reform group.
On Monday 26 October, Dr Stamper will visit CEPS at the ANU to present his views advocating the legalisation of illicit drugs.
