
About CEPS at The Australian National University
Research conducted for the ARC Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS) at The Australian National University
(ANU) is drawn from a varied range of expertise. Research findings and theoretical frameworks from the research areas of international
relations, epidemiology and population health, governance and justice, human rights, peacebuilding, and restorative justice are combined
with insights from the policing and security fields.
Research Centres
The CEPS research agenda at the ANU actively engages the following research centres:
- Centre for International Justice and Governance (CIGJ) , RegNet, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.
- National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH), ANU College of
Medicine and Health Sciences.
- Department of International Relations (IR), Research School of Pacific and
Asian Studies (RSPAS), ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.
- International Association of Research Universities (IARU), an alliance of
ten of the world's leading reasearch universities.
- Centre for Restorative Justice (CRJ) , RegNet, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.
- Security 21, RegNet, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.
- Centre for Micro Foundations of Democratic Governance, RegNet, ANU College
of Asia and the Pacific.
- National Europe Centre, Research School of Humanities, ANU College of
Arts and Social Sciences.
Chief Investigators
The ANU branch of CEPS houses three of the Centre’s Chief Investigators:
- Professor Peter
Grabosky, from Security 21, is the Deputy
Director of the Centre as well as a Chief Investigator and Research Theme Leader.

Professor Gabriele Bammer, from the
National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH), is a Chief Investigator and Research Theme Leader.

Professor William Tow, from the
Department of International Relations, holds a key role as a Chief Investigator.

Other Key ANU Academics
The expertise and work of other key ANU academics ensure that the Centre delivers an exceptional and internationally
renowned program of research:
- The research work of Professors and ARC Federation Fellows Hilary Charlesworth and John Braithwaite, both from
RegNet, is an important part of the Centre research program, and both of these individuals hold positions on the Centre's
international advisory board.

ANU College of Law and the
National Europe Centre, is also part of the CEPS at ANU team.
PhD Scholars
The Centre engages ANU PhD scholars through several scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships.
